Internship/ Practicum Programs
Herbert S. Schiele Clinic Fellowship Program
Applicants for the initial year of this program (2008-09) will include non-licensed, recently graduated social workers or counselors interested in entering the psychotherapy field. Applicants are expected to have a patient population of their own, in a practice setting that is consistent with the values of the Institute. All applicants must have participated in, or agree to participate in the Institute’s Windows Into Psychotherapy Course (at an additional fee of $175 for this 7 week course) or the Advanced Psychodynamic Psychotherapy Program. In the provisional year, we project accepting 3 students.

Herbert S. Schiele Clinic Practicum Program
The Schiele Clinic offers a 12-month practicum program for students who have completed the first year of an accredited MSW or equivalent program and an intensive advanced practicum program for graduates of an accredited MSW or equivalent program. These practicum experiences offer opportunities for intensive learning experiences in the theory and practice of individual and couples psychodynamic psychotherapy with adolescents and adults in a setting where length and frequency of treatment are determined by the clinical needs of the patient.

Betty Golde Smith Library Internship
The Institute Library offers a 3 credit hour library internship for students currently enrolled in a library science program. This practicum experience offers students the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities and situations that are part of a professional librarian's work in a setting that combines the work of a special library with the outreach components associated with a typical public library.
