TRAUMA AND CHILDREN - WHERE THE BRAIN MEETS THE PSYCHE
A Cutting Edge program designed for CDP alumni, educators and related professionals

INSTRUCTOR:  Peter Ruderman, MSW

Teachers  in the classroom frequently witness the effects of trauma in children.  It was previously felt that there was little one could do once the brain was wired in a certain way.  Dr. Bruce Perry has proven this assumption to be false.  His research and subsequent writings disclose the possibilities for professionals involved in the traumatized child's life to make a difference, even under the most horrible of circumstances.  Psychodynamic therapeutic interventions, informed by the advances in neuroscience, can be effective.  This cutting Edge program will provide professionals with an overview of Dr. Perry's groundbreading work in the neurosciences as well as an understanding of therapeutic relational interactions impacting the healing process of traumatized children.
